Modelling of Cement Grinding Circuits for Predictive Control
A first principles model of a cement grinding circuit is developed for the purpose of multi-variable model predictive control (MPC). The model is based on a series of mixed flow reactors with an ideal screen to model flow between the two chambers in the ball mill. The separator is modelled by efficiency curves. Breakage of the particles is modelled as a first order process in terms of functions...
متن کاملState and Parameter Estimation in Cement Grinding Circuits - Practical Aspects
Due to the lack of reliable and/or inexpensive hardware sensors in cement grinding, development of software sensors is particularly significant for control and monitoring purposes. In this study, a nonlinear distributed-parameter, full-horizon observer is designed, which allows the contents of the mill to be described in terms of hold-up and particle size distribution. When measurements are ava...
متن کاملGrinding-aid effect on the colour properties (Ry, whiteness and yellowness) of calcite in stirred media milling
This study investigates the influence of some chemical additives such as methanol, ethanol, sodium oleat, chloroform and sodium hexametaphosphate (SHMP) on the dry fine grinding of calcite (X50= 33 µm) using a stirred media mill. The experiments were carried out by a batch operation, and the change in colour properties (Ry, whiteness and yellowness) of calcite powder. The results showed that th...
متن کاملSimulation of Cement Grinding Process for Optimal Control of SO3 Content
Cement is produced by co-grinding clinker, gypsum and other components defined in the Cement Standards like limestone, pozzolans, fly ash and slag. The grinding is usually performed in horizontal ball mills. Gypsum is typically the basic source of sulphates (SO3) in the cement. The effect of gypsum on the cement quality is critical and twofold. It affects two of the main properties of this prod...
متن کاملSolid state grinding as a tool to aid enantiomeric resolution by cocrystallisation.
The formation of diastereomeric cocrystals of malic acid and tartaric acid was investigated by liquid-assisted grinding in the solid state. We demonstrate that racemic malic acid can be converted into two distinct diastereomeric cocrystal phases by grinding with a single enantiomer of tartaric acid.
